This is a view looking down on the village of Bowden in the Scottish Borders. The village is a conservation village, without a public house or general shop (at this time). Looking way across the village you are looking in the direction of Jedburgh. A larger town that is only ten miles from the border at Carter bar on the A68. This whole area is a flowing, gentle landscape that engenders a particular calm in your heart. It is only by the Eildon Hills that a abrupt rise above sea level occurs. The next nearest prominence of these proportions is on the outskirts of Earlston, a small town some five miles to the north. Some of the towns and villages surrounding this area are Galashiels, Melrose, St. Boswells, Lilliesleaf, Newtown St. Boswells, Darnick and Newstead. |
