Here is a wee bridge that has survived many torrents over the years. It spans the Ettrick Water and remains as picturesque now has it has always been. The trees give away to some degree the time of year and the water is in a reasonably generous flow. The river sports, more so in the past than now, a good supply of salmon and trout. Fishing requires a permit in many areas but that is easily obtained. The Ettrick water connects with the River Tweed at a place called Lindean between Selkirk and Galashiels. This particular spot is very good for fishing and and this part of the water has been known to accommodate some very unusual and very large eels. One of these, seen several years ago, that was about five feet long with black and yellow zigzags. As yet not identified. |
