"Calm at Fruid", indeed! For all the sky seemed to bear a threat of storm, the surface of the water was so calm (and has not been the same since) that the whole scene was quite eerie. This water is in fact a man made reservoir in an area where one or two others share the same hills that supply the streams and brooks bringing the water to the basin. It is possible to drive along the edge of the water in a car without having to particularly worry about traffic...it is very, very minimal. This is a great place to walk and stretch and take in the surrounding views and relax for a good while. This area is not far from Tweedsmuir on the road from Edinburgh to Moffat. |
