We are rising up into the hills here above a relatively new reservoir called Megget. This dam is situated above St. Marys loch and is high up in the hills, so much so that in the winter in this area you can see white hares and ermin. Most of the life around is made up of farmers, downsizers, sheep, expected wildlife and tourists at the better times of year. The road through the hills here is single track with passing places running from St. Marys Loch to Talla reservoir. The road down to Talla is most definitely not a road to merrily tackle in the winter when there is ice around, it is a long way down without roadside barriers, it is also single track. The view across Talla though is breathtaking! Well worth the risk! |
